Lightroom/Photoshop Compatibility

I was having problems when moving from Lightroom Classic to Photoshop. I went through the suggestions in the "How to Maximize Lightroom_Photoshop Compatibility" video. I found some good help but now, when I open lightroom Classic 15.0, Windows 11, I get a message that says, "Lightroom cannot write to the following directories. Until this problem is resolved, syncing from Lightroom may not function correctly." The following directory is C:\Users. I'm not sure what I changed while working through the How to Maximize Lightroom_Photoshop Compatibility" video. What did I change while making Lightroom and Photoshop more commpatibile that may have caused this. Thanks for suggestions and help.

Allen, I am not sure what you mean by compatible. The two programs are not “compatible” but you can import an image from LRC into PS and return it after but you cannot import into LRC from PS. The only way to work on a photo in LRC is by first importing the image into the LRC catalog. Also LR and LRC are different programs and there is more compatibility with LR as that does not use a catalog.

Barry, Sorry, I should have given the reference. Several months ago Anthony Morganti posted a video he called "How to Maximize Lightroom_Photoshop Compatibility." Compatible meaning better able to move back and forth between the two such as when Photo>Edit In> Photoship or working on a photo in LR and then taking it to PS and then saving it back into Lightroom. Things like using the same color space in both. setting LR Preferences > External Editing to set up moving a photo from LR to PS and then saving back to LR from PS. etc.

I encountered something similar after an Adobe update of Photoshop. In my LRC preferences, LRC was trying to send a photo to a previous version of Photoshop. Since that program didn't exist, LRC barfed on the transfer. Check your preferences and make sure LRC is sending the photo to the current version of Photoshop that is on your system.

I'm sorry. I wasn't clear enough about what is happening. I have no problem going from LR to PS. The problem is that when I open Lightroom a message pops up on my screen that says: "Lightroom cannot write to the following directories. Until this problem is resolved, syncing from Lightroom may not function correctly." The following directory it refers to is C:\Users. It must be a sync problem as the pop-up says, but I can't figure out how to fix it so that I no longer get the message.

This also appears on my Mac sometimes. I checked the Adobe forums and it seems fairly common. Just ignore it is the advice I received and followed. So far, I've not encountered an errors because of it. My guess is that there are some protected folders in both Windows and Mac that Lightroom doesn't need but can't access which gives the error.
