Am I OVERREACTING to These Changes to GIGAPIXEL AI?

I haven't done a video on Topaz Labs Gigapixel AI in some time. Recently, Topaz Labs updated it to version 8; in this video, I review what's new, and I might be overreacting to some of the changes. In the comments, let me know what you think.

The first page I showed in the video is here:

Check out all of the new stuff I have on my website, including what I mentioned in the video:

I am a Topaz Labs affiliate and will earn a commission if you purchase anything using the first two links above. Please read my Code of Ethics Statement:

I think the commercial license thing is pretty irrelevant. It's not clear if it works the way you're interpreting it as applying to the USE of the image (in which case your concern makes sense), or applying to the size of the business using the software.

I'm more concerned about the move to cloud credits, which I thought they said is also coming to PhotoAI. There will be little reason for the developers to work on speeding up local processing in favor of selling credits. One would assume that there will eventually be some cloud only processes, particularly in TPAI. If the cloud process is worth using, then perhaps the pricing should be part of the annual support plan with some credit allotment, or take the whole thing to a subscription model. For the few times I use Gigapixel, I'll wait on the local computer time if the end result is no different. PhotoAI would be a different story, if too many functions go to cloud processing and credits, it could kill the product.

Thanks for this, Joe. On the non-AI rendered image, do you see a moire pattern in the background on the lower half of the image, that wasn't apparent in the AI versions? Or is that an artifact of the YouTube posting process?

Thanks!
