What I’m up to Lately….

Things to do

I have a ton of stuff going on and I thought I’d give you an idea of what I’ve got going on at my studio and what you can look forward to in the coming weeks…

Entry Level Professional Printer Comparison

The folks over at B&H Photo Video were kind enough to loan me two great printers for comparison and review. I consider these printers to be what I call, entry level — professional printers.

First up we have the Epson SureColor P600 Printer:

Next up we have the Canon Pixma Pro-1 Printer:

My initial impression is that they’re both great — each create stunning prints and so far, both work wonderfully. There are some notable differences though which might make one of these printers better for you than the other so, look for my review/comparison very soon. Also, both printers currently have substantial rebates.

How to Calibrate your Monitor

Once question I often get is how to go about calibrating one’s monitor. Also, I often get emails from folks disappointed in their prints complaining that they look nothing like what they’re seeing on their screen. Again B&H to the rescue as they’ve loaned me a DataColor Spyder5Pro monitor calibration system so that I can do a demo video explaining why you need to calibrate your monitor and how to do it.

Note that it’s currently on sale for $50 off

How to Print in Lightroom Mini-Series

Since B&H loaned me all of this equipment I thought I’d take advantage of it and do a mini-series on how to make prints in Lightroom. The print module in Lightroom can be a bit confusing if not intimidating. I hope this upcoming mini-series will answer a lot of your questions.

Other Happenings….

I’ll also be demoing a pretty slick little light shaping tool for your flash — it’s called the Lite-Scoop by Lite Genius and I’ll take a look at one of those $50 overseas GoPro knockoffs — how does it compare to the $400 real thing?

Finally….

A benefit of my affiliation with B&H Photo Video, is that I’m able to get an advanced noticed of some of their sales, rebates and discounts. Below are several deals I was made aware of that I think might be of interest. This is their Pre-Black-Friday sale — most sale items expire on November 25th.
