The Filters of Aurora HDR 2018

The Filters of Aurora HDR 2018

In this video series, I go over in detail, each of the 14 filters in Aurora HDR 2018. One video for each of the 14 filters except the Top & Bottom Filter. There is a significant difference between the Mac and Windows version of that filter so I did a video on each. Episode 9a is the Mac Version and Episode 9b is the Windows version.

Aurora HDR 2018 Filter Cheat Sheets

Over the years, many people have requested that I write a photography book covering the various topics in my videos. I think I’ve come up with something that might actually be better than a book — I call them Cheat Sheets. They’re 8.5×11 inch sheets that go over in concise detail everything covered in each video and sometimes things that I forgot to mention in the video!

Slowly But Surely I’m Getting There!

Thank you!

First of all, let me say thank you to everyone that contacted me offering my son, my family and me their prayers and support. Thank you all for your kindness. Just an update on that front, things are going great and my son should be back to his normal life within a few weeks.

Slowly But Surely I’m Getting There!

I mentioned in a recent post that I have 14 videos detailing each of the 14 filters in Aurora HDR 2018. I’m happy to say I finally got all the post production work done on the videos and they’re uploaded to YouTube. They’re not public yet because I’m working on something new which, from now on, will be accompanying most of the videos I do...

Where Have You Been?

Where Have You Been?

As many of you noticed, I haven’t posted any videos or articles in over a month. Many people have kindly emailed me, with increasing frequency, asking me if I’m ok and if anything was wrong. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind concern and emails. I never realized I had so many friends — thoughtful, kind friends and I thank each and every one of you.

Since I’m getting more and more emails and messages of concern, I thought I’d write this short blog post explaining where I’ve been.

Last fall, my youngest son Joe was diagnosed with Stage 3, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma which requires six months of chemotherapy...

Why I Compose & Process the Way I Do

Why I Compose & Process the Way I Do

Disclaimer

In this long meandering video, I explain why I compose the way I do and why I process a RAW file the way I do.

I make no claim that this is the ONLY way to shoot and process an image nor am I saying any other way might be “Wrong” or “Stupid”. I’m merely explaining the way I do things, as a reference for those that watch my videos can better understand my philosophy.

My hope is that this educates and stimulates you to investigate how other photographers compose and edit so that you can come up with something unique, that works for you.

How I Shoot Bracketed Images

How I Shoot Bracketed Images

In this short video, I demonstrate how I set up my Nikon camera to shoot bracketed images. The bracket could be used for a later merge to HDR image or perhaps I just want to make sure that I nail exposure.

If your camera is capable of shooting a bracketed set of images and has a timer mode, you’ll be able to shoot a bracket in the manner. Even if your camera doesn’t have a timer mode or, you don’t have a tripod, I demonstrate how to shoot a bracket in those situations as well.

Mastering Luminar 2018 Video & DVD

Even though all my videos are freely available on YouTube, I often get requests from folks who’d like to have a copy of the videos — either a DVD copy that they can play on their home DVD while they follow along, working on an image on their computer. Or, more often, I’ve received requests to purchase the actual video files to be viewed on a computer when an internet connection is not available. I’m happy to say that all of my Mastering series of videos will be available on a physical DVD to be played in a home DVD player and/or a video download that can be played on a computer.

My First Mastering video series is Mastering Luminar 2018 that I very recently uploaded to YouTube. It is now available on DVD and/or a Video download...
